When can I come in to get a tutor?

The Academic Skills Centre is open from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM from Monday to Thursday during the regular semester and from 8:30 AM to 4:30: PM on Fridays.

How do I know that my tutor will be qualified to help me?

All tutors must have received a grade of 85% or better in the course they tutor and must have a recommendation from a teacher.Tutors also take part in a tutor training workshop.

How long does it take to get a tutor?

The process takes only a few minutes. The Academic Skills Centre will give you the name, e-mail address, and telephone number of a qualified tutor in the area of study in which you need help and may suggest a group tutorial that you can join if one is available.

What if I am unhappy with the tutor assigned to me?

If, for any reason, your assigned tutor does not work out, let us know. We will make every effort to set you up with someone else.

Where does tutoring take place?

Tutoring sessions happen all around campus: in the Academic Skills Centre’s study rooms, empty classrooms, resource rooms, the library, any place that is conducive to tutoring and acceptable to both you and your tutor.

How much does tutoring cost?

Tutoring is free for registered Dawson students.
