ASC Services

• Drop-In Sessions:
  Students who have questions requiring brief responses or advice can meet with a professional without an appointment any time between 11:00 and 3:00.
• Individual Appointments:
  Students can schedule time with an Academic Skills Centre professional to discuss and work on any learning task.
• Writing Tutors:
  Individual sessions can be scheduled throughout the day with professionals hired specifically to help students organize their assignments and develop the necessary writing and editing skills.
• Peer Teaching in English:
  Students enrolled in the Peer Teaching English BXE course tutor students who wish to improve their speaking, reading and writing skills in English.
• Language Skills Workshop:
  Small group sessions meet regularly to help students improve their writing, reading and oral presentation skills.
• Speak, Read and Write Groups:
  Informal groups meet regularly to help ESL or francophone students improve their English language skills.
• English Exit Exam Preparation:
  Students who are taking the English Exit Exam can take part in a series of workshops given in the month before the test.
• Study Skills Workshops:
  Workshops on topics such as time management, note taking, working with text books, and test taking are scheduled throughout the semester.
• Peer Tutors:
  Trained peer tutors provide help with specific courses in Mathematics, the Sciences, Social Science, Languages and several career programs including Business Administration, Computer Science, Electronics Technology and Nursing. Peer tutors work with students individually for a nominal hourly fee. Group tutorials and drop-in tutorials in certain subjects are provided free of charge.
