Arts & Culture (500.G1)

“The last thing one knows in constructing a work is what to put first.” –Blaise Pascal (1623-1662)

Choosing the Arts and Culture profile offers students a broad exploration of the creative arts. This profile is an excellent choice for students wanting to achieve a solid background in the arts without specializing at this point in their education.

The wide perspective of this profile prepares students for university studies in art history, communications, creative writing, cultural studies, film studies, education, history, international development, journalism, literature, liberal arts, and philosophy.

Course Selection

Students in this profile must take six profile-required courses, as well as four profile-recommended courses. Courses with an asterisk* (on the course list page) are recommended for students who wish to take the maximum number of courses in their chosen profile.

Alternatively, students can choose to take other courses listed in the same section. Students must choose an additional program option course each term. Arts and Culture profile students may take a maximum of six courses in any one discipline. Students must also take General Education courses in English, Humanities, French, and Physical Education as well as two complementary courses in disciplines outside of their program.
