Volunteer for DCC 2016!

Why Volunteer? What are the roles and responsibilities?

As a volunteer, you will not only be exposed to an great network of judges, sponsors and international colleagues, but you will also have the opportunity to be an ambassador for Dawson College, and more specifically to our Business Program. You will also be invited to join our Cocktail Event.

We invite you to volunteer at the 2016 Case Competition!

You will be able to help out during the competition with the following positions available:
1. Sponsorship Volunteer:
You will be responsible at recruiting past and new sponsors to help minimize the costs of the event by contacting sponsors and presenting them our sponsorship package. You must be available from January to end of March 2016.

2. Team ambassador:
Responsibilities include: accompanying the assigned team to their preparation rooms and presentation rooms, maintaining the rules of the competition during the preparation period, etc. Due to the nature of our competition, we require our team ambassadors to be bilingual in English and French. You must be available one day in the first two weeks of March (date to be determined in February), April 9, and April 10.

3. Presentation Room Coordinators (Time-Keepers and Judge Coordinators):
Responsibilities include: guiding the judges to the appropriate presentation rooms, as well as being the liaison between the judges and the organizing committee. You will be responsible for collecting the evaluation forms after each presentation. You will ensure that the presentations commence according to schedule to avoid any potential delays. After each presentation, you will kindly ask the audience members to exit the room so that the judges can deliberate amongst themselves. You must be available for 2 hours training in March and April 10.

4. Videographer / 5. Photographer / 6. Audio/Visual Technician
Videographer/Photographer Responsibilities: You will be responsible for videotaping or taking beautiful pictures of the presentations, the cocktail and all other assigned activities during the day. The Audio/Visual Technician will be responsible of ensuring that the PowerPoint Presentations function during the competition and the cocktail event. He/she will ensure to minimize any technological issues with the computers, microphones and projectors. For these roles, you must be available to meet in February for a few hours, April 9 and April 10.

7. Servers (for breakfast and lunch):
You will be responsible to serve the breakfast and lunch for the students, judges and volunteers. You must be available to meet one day in the last two weeks of March, April 9, and April 10.

8. Helpers (for set-ups and takedowns):
You will be responsible for setting-up the presentations rooms, cocktail and taking it down after the event. You must be available April 8, 9, and 10 to help with the logistics.

9. Master of Ceremonies (for the awards and ceremony/reception):
You will be responsible for presenting the speakers, special guests, sponsors and announcing the raffle prizes. You must be available the last two weeks of March for a meeting and April 10.
