Academic Standing and Advancement Policy

To be in good standing and to register unconditionally, students must meet the requirements of the College Academic Standing and Advancement Policy, as well as the Program requirements.

College Policy

Academic Standing

To be in good standing and to register unconditionally:

  • Students must have passed more than 50% of their courses for the year (not including summer school).
  • Students admitted in January must pass more than 50% of their courses in that semester.
  • Students must also meet the standards of their particular program. If that policy is more stringent than the College policy, the program policy (DEC or AEC) takes precedence.

Students who do not fulfill the above conditions may register only with the permission of the College Academic Standing Appeals Committee.

Students denied permission to register under this section have a right to appeal to the College Academic Standing Appeals Committee.

Program policy

Academic Standing

A student will be expelled from the Computer Science Technology Program if he/she has failed:

  1. Two or more Computer Science Technology (420) courses in one term

    2. or

  2. The same Computer Science Technology (420) course twice.

    3. or

  3. A Computer Science Technology (420) course in any two consecutive terms in the program matrix.

Advancement

  1. In order to advance to the next term of the program, all previous Computer Science Technology (420) courses must have been passed.
  2. In order to advance to the fifth term of the program, the Business Administration (401) course must have been passed.
  3. To participate in the internship in the sixth term, the student must have passed at least three English courses, one French course, two Humanities courses, two Physical Education courses, one Mathematics course and all Computer Science Technology (420) courses. The student is expected to complete all remaining courses within the fall semester following the Internship.

Exceptional Circumstances

The Program Coordinator can recommend to the Program Dean an exception to advancement decisions in extenuating circumstances.

An expelled student retains the right to appeal the expulsion to the College’s Academic Standing Appeals Committee.
