Are you a student from another college?
If you are a student currently registered in a DEC program or in Springboard to a DCS at another college, you may be able to register for up to two courses at Dawson this summer, if your college grants you permission to do so. This official permission from your college is called a commandite.
As of Summer 2016, Dawson is changing its process for commandite student registration in summer. Please make sure that your advisor at your home college has read all of this information:
Dawson will accept commandites through the SRACQ Commandite virtuelle system, which your advisor has access to in order to send your information to us. If your college only produces commandites on paper, then you must bring your form to Dawson’s Registrar’s Office counter, Room 2D.6 during the processing dates below.
We will begin processing commandite requests as of Monday, May 2, 2016.
The deadline for Summer School commandite requests is Friday, May 27.
Step 1: To prepare for Summer School at Dawson, your home college must indicate through the Commandite virtuelle (or on paper):
- All of your correct contact information.
- Which one or two courses that you are being permitted to take. Two courses maximum.
- The priority of your commandite:
- Priority A or Fin de programme: means the course(s) that you wish to take at Dawson this summer will allow you to graduate with your DEC in Summer 2016.
- Priority B: that you need this course to advance in your regular DEC program in Fall
- non-priority may also be indicated.
- If you are a Priority A student, the commandite information must include which section you wish to take. For example, 201-NYC-05 section 19002.
- Your email address. If we do not have your correct email address, you will not receive your Omnivox access time, nor your in-person appointment time to register since commandite appointments will be sent by email only. If the email address is incorrect, you could miss your chance to register.
- Your advisor must extend the commandite permission to expire on July 31, 2016 so that, after both Summer School and Rattrapage registration, we may respond to your college through the system. All responses from Dawson will be sent by the end of July.
- IMPORTANT – Commandite students may only register for the courses approved by their home college and accepted at Dawson, prior to registration. Commandite students may register for only for in-program courses (hors programme – HP – courses will be refused).
Step 2. Once your commandite is accepted, you must set-up and access your MyDawson (Omnivox) account
As of Summer 2016, commandite students will be granted access to complete their registration online, through the MyDawson portal. Once your commandite is processed in May, take the time to access MyDawson by following the steps online.
Once your username (student number) and password have been set up, take the time on MyDawson to find Omnivox Services on the lower left of the portal page. Go to Course Registration.
In the last week of May, appointments for Omnivox course registration will be loaded and you will be able to see your exact appointment time there.
Here are the commandite timeblocks for Omnivox registration:
- Commandite Priority A (graduating in Summer): Friday, June 3, beginning at 5:00 p.m. to Sunday, June 5, 11:30 p.m.
- Commandite Priority B and non-priority: Sunday, June 5, beginning at 4:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Step 3. Check your email for registration information during the last week of May.
Step 4. Access MyDawson to register at your exact appointment time. Finalize and pay all fees before Sunday, June 5 at 11:30 p.m.
Students must pay their fees by credit card or online banking direct payment on the registration web page. Fees must be paid in full at the time of registration. No exception. If fees are not paid by your in-person appointment time on June 6, your course registration will be cancelled.
NOTES: – No Helpline will be available during Internet registration. If you have any problems registering online you must come on June 6 at the time of your In-person registration appointment that was emailed to you.
