Prerequisite: Spanish Conversation Level 5

Overall Goals:

1. Help students to get by in Spanish in familiar day-to-day situations by immersing them in interesting aspects of the cultural and social life of the Spanish speaking world that can be contrasted with the students’ own culture. Students will be able to use the vocabulary, grammatical structures, and linguistic functions necessary to communicate accurately and fluently in a variety of contexts.
2. Develop students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through various communicative activities focusing on travel, culture and customs, and socializing.

Intended Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, students will be able to:

• Use the vocabulary, grammatical structures, and linguistic functions necessary to communicate accurately and fluently in a variety of contexts.

Methodology:

• Vocabulary activities
• Modeling and practicing short conversations
• Pair and group activities
• Pronunciation activities
• Listening activities (Listening for gist and for specific information)
• Reading activities (Skimming and scanning tasks)
• Grammar activities and games

Required Material:

Students may choose to purchase either a digital book or a paper book, not both.
The purchase should only be made after the first class.

• Device: PC (Windows 11) or Mac OS 13 (Ventura or newer).
  Laptops or desktops are recommended for full functionality.

  Students may be able to participate using Chromebooks or tablets, but features may be limited.

• Internet Connection: Minimum – 10 Mbps download / 2 Mbps upload.
  Recommended – 25 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload.

  Wired internet connection is preferred for stability.

• Audio & Video: Headphones or earbuds with a microphone.
  Webcam (built-in or external) is recommended.
