By now you should...

  • Have accepted your offer and reserved
    your spot by following the instructions on your
    notification of admission.

  • Understand any condition(s) on your admission
    and finish the current semester strong!

In December, you need to…...

  • Activate your Omnivox student portal. See the instructional video on the Dawson website: dawsoncollege.qc.ca/academic-advising/video-resources

  • Write and submit your online English Placement Test through Omnivox. Click on Placement Test and select English Placement Test as of December 11, 2019. Submit your test before January 5, 2019 in order to register at your scheduled time. If you graduated from a Quebec high school, you will not write a French Placement Test and can check your level under Placement Test Results (under Placement Tests in Omnivox). Students who must take the test will receive an email.

  • In order to register for your courses, your fees must be paid in full through Omnivox or at the Student Fees Counter in 4B.5. The deadline for payment is January 6, 2020.

  • Contact the Student AccessAbility Centre if you require special accommodations.

Over the holiday break, don’t forget to…...

  • Relax and re-energize yourself for the school year ahead!

  • Look out for your invitation to the Orientation Session taking place on Monday, January 13, 2020. Invitations will be sent to your personal email and to your Omnivox portal.

  • Review your program handbook on Omnivox under My College Services > Program Handbook.

  • Watch the How to Register and the First Semester Academic Orientation videos at dawsoncollege.qc.ca/academic-advising/video-resources

  • Find out your Course Registration access time under My Omnivox Services.

In January, you need to…...

  • Look for your English and French Placements on Omnivox under My College Services > Placement Test Registration and Results > Results

  • Review your progression chart and important registration information on Omnivox under My College Services.

  • Register for your courses online. Registration will take place from January 2 to 14. If you have any questions, call the Registration Help Line at 514-931-5701 or use the “live chat” option.

  • Finalize your registration.

  • Reserve a locker through your My Dawson portal under My Omnivox Services once your schedule has been finalized. A $10 fee payable online by Visa or MasterCard applies.

  • Attend your Orientation Session on Monday, January 13, 2020. See start time on the invitation sent to your Omnivox portal and to your personal e-mail address back in December.

  • Have your picture taken and get your student ID card during the Orientation Session. It is mandatory for all Dawson students to carry a valid Dawson ID card.

During the first week of classes…...

  • Go to all of your classes.

  • If you haven’t picked up the agenda and reusable water bottle offered by the Dawson Student Union during your Orientation Session, you can pick up these items at the Dawson Student Union Office in 2F.2.

  • Review your course outlines and start putting important deadlines in your agenda.

  • Buy your textbooks at the bookstore located in the Lower Atrium, 1F.2, and be sure to keep up with the readings.

  • To add money to your printing account, refill stations are located in the library and in the 2H wing near the Computer Help Desk. You can also add money to your account through Omnivox using a credit card.

  • If necessary/possible, make a schedule modification. The last day to modify your schedule (make a course change) is Friday, January 24, 2020. Fees apply.

  • Obtain your student OPUS card by following the instructions on Omnivox. Select Reduced Fare OPUS from your My Omnivox Services menu. No need to visit Berri-UQAM, your card can be mailed directly to your home (your card will be sent to your home directly)

  • Set academic goals and take advantage of all the services and resources Dawson has to offer.

  • Visit the First-Year Students’ Office located in 2D.0.
