Overview

Faculty (including retired faculty) at Dawson College may be eligible to borrow items in person from other Canadian libraries by requesting a card from the Bureau de coopération interuniversitaire (BCI).

When borrowing from university libraries, please take note of the following:

  • The borrower must identify himself/herself to the lending library by means of a BCI card as well as provide appropriate personal identification (picture ID) for registration.
  • In requesting a BCI card, the borrower is acknowledging that he/she will respect the policies and procedures of the lending library, including returns and fines policies.
  • All fines, replacement costs, and other fees are based upon the policies of the lending library. The borrower in arrears may re-establish his/her borrowing privileges once all fines and fees are paid to the lending library. Dawson College is not responsible for fines or fees incurred by faculty.
  • Borrowed material may be returned at the returns counter of the lending library or to the returns counter of the borrower’s home library.

Applying for a BCI Card Through Dawson College

The Research Office sends out a call in September for card renewals and new applications – please complete the online form at this time, and we will apply for BCI cards for all researchers. The cards normally arrive in mid-September, and are valid until 30 September of the following year.

If you miss the call for applications, you may request a BCI card through the Research Office any time using the form below, indicating that you would like to apply for a BCI card.
