Potential New Students

How do I access services?

  • Contact us so that we can add you to our list of new students.
  • You will need to submit a copy of your assessment or medical document explaining your disability.
  • Our services begin when you receive your letter of admission from Dawson. We can offer you accommodations for your placement tests and assistance with your course selection.
  • Shortly before the school year begins in August, we will invite you to an information session. We will give you details on available accommodations and tell you how to obtain services.

Will I be treated differently from other students?

  • You will not be in special classes.
  • Services such as tutoring, career and personal counselling, academic advising, and help from teachers are available for all students.

How is CEGEP different from high school?

  • CEGEP demands self-direction and discipline.
  • Help is available but you must ask for it.
  • A different daily schedule may make maintaining motivation a challenge.
  • Time management and study skills are extremely important.
  • A semester is 15 weeks; you then select a different group of courses and a new schedule.
