How to find good French articles
- Do not use Wikipedia as a source!
- Try to avoid the Internet altogether!
- Make sure you pick articles that are not too long and that seem easy to understand!
- Go on the Dawson website:
Services > Library > Articles > Repère > Recherche > Type key words of the topic you chose > on the side make sure you click in “limiter la recherche” (texte intégral seulement) if you do not do this, you will not have access to full texts! - Ask your teacher if he/she accepts articles from Encyclopaedia Universalis, if he/she says yes, go on the Dawson Website:
Services > Library > Online Resources > General Reference > Encyclopaedia Universalis > enter your student ID and password - Go on the Dawson website:
Services > Library > Articles > Persée/Érudit > Recherche > Type key words of the topic you chose > these may give you articles that will be harder to understand so start with Repère(see #4)! - Go to the Dawson library (5C) and ask for some help!
- Ask your teacher for some help! They will know best what they consider good articles!
- You can also go to CLÉO at 4.E10 where they have magazines with articles with a variety of topics. Before going you can go to the Dawson website:
Programs > General Education > French > CLÉO > Articles de langue française > Type a key word > when you find an article that has an interesting title write down the date of publication (ex: April 2002) and the name of the magazine (ex: Cerveau & Psycho) and look for it on the shelves.*If you have a hard time finding it ask someone to help you. Once you find it, sign your name in the book of borrow, go photocopy the article right away and bring back the magazine the same day!
