B-boy/B-girl (Breakdance) Camp

This summer, Dawson College’s Centre for Training & Development (CTD), with its dance team, is offering for the first time an exciting B-Boy/B-girl (Breakdance) camp for kids in Montreal.

The B-boy/B-girl (Breakdance) camp offers young Montrealers between the ages of 8 and 12 a unique summer dance camp experience. It is our mission to create the opportunity for campers to challenge themselves, explore their artistry and to stimulate their imagination and creativity in an encouraging, motivating and safe environment.

Camp Details

The camp will introduce campers to the dance of B-boying/B-girling otherwise known as Breakdance. The basic movements will be taught along with proper warmup, conditioning and yoga to prepare the campers to move towards more advanced movements by the end of the week. Campers will have the chance to dance to great music, watch informative videos, learn cool moves and choreographies from a professional and make up their own routines with friends in a safe and fun environment.

There will be a chance to participate in field trips to dance studios, friendly competitions (battles), dance circles (cyphers) and a performance at the end of the week.

Campers will have the opportunity to improvise, collaborate and create their own unique choreographies and create DIY costumes and original Graffiti influenced art work.

Campers who would like to continue in Week 2 will be promoted to be team leaders to help out the new campers but will also be taught specific movements that continue their learning from the first week.

The Camp runs weekly from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Mondays to Fridays, and includes hands-on activities, on-site dance & arts opportunities and outings in the Montreal area.

Every Friday at 4:00 p.m. we hold a dance performance/choreography by the campers. Family and friends are welcome.
