Game Design Boot Camp
Once again this summer, Dawson College’s Centre for Training & Development (CTD) is offering an exciting and innovative game design camp for teenagers.
The Game Design Boot Camp gives students the skills and knowledge to explore the exciting world of gaming and learn to produce their own works. It is our mission to bring together adolescents to challenge, encourage and motivate them, stimulate their imagination and creativity while maintaining a total commitment to their artistic growth.
The presence of well-known industry giants such as Ubisoft, EA, and Warner Brothers as well as a thriving Indie community makes Montreal a key city in the gaming world. This camp is for anyone between the ages of 15-17 who loves games, is bursting with ideas, is interested in interactive digital media or wants to learn about the game design process.
Camp Details
The Camp introduces fundamental concepts of game design with both physical and digital tools. Over the course of the two weeks, campers will learn how to design a game, create a prototype, use player feedback, and make their own game using the Construct 2 Game Engine. Because Construct 2 is a visual editor, there is no need to know how to program – we will teach the software from scratch. All campers need is to be familiar with computers and have the drive to create their own game.
Campers can expect to be intellectually and creatively challenged in a positive, energetic environment. They will gain an overall knowledge of the game development process, as well as learn concrete project management skills and practical design knowledge that can be applied in any discipline. Best of all, they leave with a game they make themselves, which will be hosted on the Dawson College website to share with friends and family!
