Program Information
The Visual Arts program is a two-year pre-university program that prepares students for further studies in art. The program provides a strong general education with a visual art focus. Our program includes foundation, intermediate and advanced courses in painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, media art, photography, video and the history of art and aesthetics. With this diversity of methods and studio practices Visual Arts graduates acquire a heightened ability for visual expression and creative work.
Dawson College is fortunate to be located in a flourishing cultural environment, close to museums, galleries and artist-run centres. This provides a dynamic context for the Visual Arts Program, where our professors instruct, mentor and support students in their artistic development.
Career Opportunities
This two-year program leads to a Diploma of College Studies (DEC) and prepares students for further studies in the Visual Arts, Studio Arts, Painting and Drawing, Art History, Art Education, Art Therapy, Design, Photography, Intermedia Cyberarts and other art related fields. Our graduates have gained entrance, often with advance standing, to both English and French speaking universities within Quebec, Canada and around the world.
